Christine Drapkin Bio
There wasn’t a time in Christine’s life when she didn’t believe that feeding people was her “calling”, her true love, her obsession. It was clear to everyone on Christine’s Second Grade Career Day when she arrived with pans and groceries, determined to show her classmates how the tastiest spaghetti sauce in the world was made. It was good and she loved making it; since that day she’s never stopped feeding people, exploring, experimenting.
Surrounded by a food loving family, her love of cooking was natural. She was raised at the knee of a several chefs including her candy-maker grandfather. He owned The Moscow Inn, an early Sunset Strip hotspot and eatery in the 20’s; her father was a chef, and her parents owned coffee shops where Christine worked throughout her adolescence. Her father was her main conspirator in the kitchen; where they spent hours together reliving Julia Child’s cooking shows, comparing recipes, and simply cooking together.
Convinced it was her life’s work, Christine started studying, earning a Culintary Arts degree, before she went to work at the venerable Saddle Peak Lodge in Malibu where she worked for renowned chef Josie le Bach. At Saddle Peak, she learned the mechanics and secrets of a top-flight kitchen. And, after work, she cooked, for family, friends, and acquaintances. One of the visitors to her table was a well-known director, who persuaded her to run his kitchen full time. Her role as Personal Chef, Hollywood style, included family food as well as parties that ran the gamut from glamorous events to casual dinners. While successfully putting on a number of great Hollywood parties, Christine also put innovative and delicious meals on the table for his family and friends, every day. Christine learned the long term strategy of cooking day in and day out, and keeping people happy.
Eventually, Christine wanted a change and became Executive Chef at LaserPacific, a Kodak company. LaserPacific is an award-winning post production facility in Hollywood that serves the top creative and technical companies and individuals in motion pictures and television. For over fourteen years, she supervised the planning, provisioning, preparation and presentation of over 3000 meals and snacks every week, corporate meetings, monthly parties, and no-notice catering for the most exacting audience. Her food was always a hit; Christine was frequently asked by clients and staff if she would cater their events and consult for them. During one of these consultations, she realized that the time had come for Harvest Moon.
For more than twenty years, Christine has followed her passion, studied, expanded her palette and experienced a number of environments, cuisines, and foods. Harvest Moon is the product of her passion; but also reflects her dedication to organic and clean foods, prepared with the utmost care. Harvest Moon offers a wide range of tastes and options, which satisfy a wide variety of palates.
